Elderscrolls Online Beta

Thanks to a friend, I’ve got access to the upcoming beta.

To be totally honest, I’m not really sure what I’m expecting from it apart from multiplayer Elderscrolls.Β  This is probably due to the fact I’ve not been caught up in the pre release hype just yet. The fact I won’t be able to mod it as extensively as the single player Elderscrolls games is the main reason I was initially less interested. Secondly on top of that, the monthly fee. I’ve been spoilt with Guild Wars 2 in that regard as that’s literally buy the game once and play without monthly fees.

Having said all that I’m interested in how it all feels and will be looking forward to giving the game a whirl with my friends!

HDT Physics Skyrim Test 1

I’ve been playing around with the HDT physics plugin for Skyrim. I decided to make a little test using some old Oblivion armour edits I had lying around. I’ve used the HDT skirts as a rigging base and it seems to have come out quite nicely. I’ve yet to play around with the XML file to tweak the settings but so far things look promising πŸ™‚ I might upload a video sometime later to illustrate the effect.

I realise I’ve not posted anything in a long while. Suffice to say it’s been a bit busy in real life.

I’ve managed to move onto modding Skyrim and unfortunately I suffered a couple of hard drive issues so I’ve not got many of the original files for my previous Oblivion mods. I do obviously have the versions that I had in my Oblivion date files but the original blender and texture files are probably long gone.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is a collection of some screenshots from my adventures in Skyrim. I’d say the Skyrim modding scene has really come along nicely now and I’m amazed all the time with the new fancy stuff they come up with πŸ™‚

Miscellaneous ramblings 01

I know I’ve not posted any progress in a long time, suffice to say there’s too many shiny new things on the horizon! Guild Wars 2 has been currently taking up my time. I’ve started looking into modding Skyrim and so far I’ve been relatively successful in getting things ingame but I’m coming up against a few hurdles when it comes to armour/clothing.

I’ve also finally been dabbling into PHP recently so I might conjure up a proper website sometime in the near future.

And for no reason whatsoever other than for some eyecandy, here’s a screenshot of the Uesugi Kenshin armour again πŸ™‚

Uesugi Kenshin and Date Masamune WIP01

Today’s post is about a couple of WIP that have been in my unfinished projects folder for a while. First up, it’s Uesugi Kenshin, I decided to go back and add a bit more to the textures the other day. As for Masamune, he’s still very much in the early phases of the project. As you can see he still needs a lot of work yet πŸ™‚

A new shiny world…

Thought I’d take a break from making the Selvaria mod to make this new thing. I’ve not decided what mod to add it to yet, but I have a couple of ideas on what I’d like to use it for. Ideally I want some fancy encounter here, for example a boss monster or something.

One thing I need to sort out in Blender is face sorting as at certain angles, parts of the mesh are not showing the swirly layers properly (due to the overlapping alphas). I also intend to make the two swirly layers rotate to give it a more fancy look. The middleΒ  magic circle may also be animated as well.

Selvaria Bles WIP03

Latest update on my Selvaria mod, the Lance has had most of the detail modelled. Still requires a few tweaks before I UVmap it (such as the lance end needing a slight twist).

Selvaria’s mesh is also mainly done now, I’m fine tuning bits here and there and attempting to paint the texture… however my graphics tablet and monitor have other ideas. My main monitor has stopped working and the tablet is a bit temperamental.

I’ve rigged what I have for a quick test, ignore the fact the hair isn’t rigged very well. I think it’s starting to come together quite nicely. Still no “proper textures” to speak of just yet. Still need to edit the meshes a bit more before I commit to fully texturing it.

Selvaria Bles WIP01

My latest work in progress, Selvaria Bles outfit and weapon. Selvaria is one of my favourite characters from the Valkyria Chronicles series on the PS3/PSP.

The texture is really basic at the moment to check my UVMap for any errors. The Lance has had more done to it since this screenie was taken so I’ll upload a newer version some other time.

The main outfit only has a basic texture painted at the moment. That will come once I finish the mesh+UVmapping.
